 Ebola and Global Health Teach-In, University of Illinois

On September 18th, 2014, the Center for African Studies co-sponsored a teach-in on ebola at the University of Illinois.







The event featured the following invited speakers:

  • Dr. Gay Miller – Professor in the Department of Veterinary Pathology
  • Dr. Barry Pittenrigh – Professor in the Department of Entomology and Director of Scientific Animations Without Borders (SAWBO)
  • Christian Martyn Kamara – National General Secretary and Chief Executive Office of the YMCA in Sierra Leone
  • Mabinty Tarawallie, MSW – Sierra Leone National and recent graduate from the University of Illinois School of Social Work

Additionally, a statement was read on behalf of Dr. Aisha Ibrahim, Senior Lecturer and Director of the Institute for Gender Research and Documentation at Fourah Bay College in Sierra Leone on women and the Ebola pandemic.
